Hands-On, Community-Focused Leadership

Bloodwood Tree is looking for a full-time Community Services Coordinator, based in South Hedland, WA.

Reporting to the Community Services Manager, you will lead and improve three established community services programs, with a strong hands-on focus on the Hedland Aboriginal Home Ownership Program (HAHOP). This role has been created as part of an internal restructure to strengthen leadership, coordination, and service consistency across existing programs.

This role supports the Community Patrol program operating across South Hedland and surrounding areas. Balancing direct client support with people leadership and stakeholder engagement, you will play a key role in improving processes, supporting staff capability, and delivering stronger outcomes for individuals, families, and the wider community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading, improving, and strengthening the Hedland Aboriginal Home Ownership Program, Community Connect, and Mini Mart services, with a strong focus on home ownership pathway
  • Managing an active home ownership caseload, supporting clients to transition from social housing into sustainable home ownership or private rental
  • Providing one-on-one client support including intake, assessment, advocacy, and personalised housing plans
  • Leading, supervising, and coaching a small team to improve performance, accountability, and service delivery
  • Building culturally safe, respectful relationships with clients, families, Elders, and community partners
  • Strengthening partnerships with housing providers, government agencies, and external services
  • Monitoring program outcomes, compliance, reporting, and funding requirements
  • Driving continuous improvement by fixing unclear processes, strengthening systems, and addressing legacy issues within existing programs
  • Upholding governance, WHS, and organisational policies and procedures
  • Managing complex client matters, including conflict or challenging behaviours, with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.

Please Note: This role requires flexibility, including weekend work and shifts that may extend to 7:00pm.

The Right Person, Not Just the Right Skills

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in community services, tenancy systems, housing pathways, or home ownership programs, along with a current WA Driver’s Licence.

You will demonstrate strong cultural awareness and confidence working respectfully with Aboriginal people and communities. Experience working within the Pilbara or Kimberley regions will be highly regarded.

Additionally, you will ideally bring:

  • Knowledge of tenancy management, social housing systems, or home ownership pathways
  • Exposure to government-funded programs, contracts, KPIs, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience managing or contributing to an active client caseload
  • Staff supervision, coaching, or leadership experience
  • Strong administrative, reporting, and documentation capability
  • Confidence handling conflict, sensitive matters, and complex client situations
  • Ability to obtain a Passenger Transport Driver (PDD) authorisation (support provided)

As our ideal candidate, you are practical, culturally aware, and solutions-focused. You bring maturity, fairness, and impartiality to your work, and you are motivated by strengthening services while bringing staff along for the journey.

Your Work, Recognised and Respected

This role offers more than just a job; it offers stability, purpose, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

You’ll enjoy a competitive hourly rate of $45 per hour, plus a range of attractive benefits including:

  • $300 per week Pilbara allowance
  • $1.77 per hour remote allowance
  • Enjoy a competitive hourly rate, generous allowances, and 6 weeks’ annual leave
  • Annual $1,000 flight allowance (after 12 months’ service)
  • Transitional housing support available for eligible relocating candidates
  • Support to obtain required licences and clearances
  • A supportive leadership environment that values fresh ideas and continuous improvement

Be Part of the Story – Join Bloodwood Tree

In the first weeks, the focus will be on learning organisational policies and procedures, understanding program contracts, KPIs, and reporting requirements, before increasing community and stakeholder engagement.
